Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. Born and raised in the outskirts of Barcelona The singer is described as an "atypical pop star" due to her diverse music styles. [9] She was captivated by Spanish folk music when she was just 13 years old. She was a musicologist at the Catalonia College of Music and was also a wedding singer. Reimagining flamenco in a new way by mixing it with hip-hop and pop music, it spawned the singles "Malamente" and "Pienso en your Mira" that caught the attention of the Spanish general public, and then were released to wide praise from critics. Recognized as the winner of the Latin Grammy Award for Album of the Year, and a place in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, El Mal Querer started the ascendance of Rosalia into the world of music. Rosalia's 2019 albums "Con Altura" (13) and "Yo x Ti Tu x Mi" (12-13) were pioneers in urbano , which earned her world-wide popularity. She gave reggaeton an experimental twist on her third studio album Motomami (2022), departing from the brand new flamenco sound of her previous album. It featured two singles "La Fama," and "Saoko", the album was a hit worldwide and was named the best-reviewed album of the year by Metacritic. Through her career, Rosalia has accumulated ten #1 singles from her home country, which is the highest for a local artist. Two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including two Album of the Year nominations), four MTV Video Music Awards and three UK Music Video Awards have been conferred to Rosalia. Also, she was awarded two Premio Ruido Awards. Billboard presented her with the Rising Star Award, in 2019, for "changing the music of today's popular songs with her fresh flamenco pop". 18 years ago, she is also the first singing Spanish group to be nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys. Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. Born in a family with no artistic background, she is the youngest daughter of Pilar Tobella, a businesswoman who manages a small family business specialised in metalworks. Her father, Jose Manuel Vila, was born in Cudillero, Asturias. They divorced in the year 2019. The older sister, Pilar Vila ("born 1989") is her stylist and creative mind. Rosalia was attracted to performing arts from the age of five. She was able to discover the discography of Camaron De la Isla. In the Taller de Musics, she began her music education. She completed a 6 year program at the academy. She started in the Raval school, but later moved to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia.
